A memoir about the musician Michelle Zauner's journey of grief over her mothers battle with cancer. The book focuses heavily on nostalgia and is centered around Korean home cooking. I wanted the art work to be reminiscent of a risograph which evokes vintage Korean food advertisements as well as band posters. I wanted the artwork to be simple overlapping colors like a child's scribble and that of the flat Japonisme lithographs. The image shape came out of the idea of noodles mixed with a river of tears. The typography highlights the typeface BD Supper which feels reminiscent of retro food advertisements and the pop of colors are meant to reflect the neon lights of Seoul.
