Even Cow Girls Get the Blues Parsons Senior Thesis 2013
My Senior Thesis at Parsons the New School of design. This collection was nominated and showed in London Fashion Week for the international MUUSE/ VOGUE ITALIA competition. I was selected to represent parsons being one of three American designers out of 16 world wide. This was a year long Exploration of my heritage harking back to my Great grandmother, an exceptional woman who survived the great depression through homesteading in Wyoming, spawning generations of strong hard working women. This collection honors all the amazing women in my life who have inspired and suffered to help me become the woman i am. I designed this entire 12 piece collection, making all patterns,Knitting and sewing each garment, machine knitting western botanical elements in to the dress and blouses, recycling vintage table cloths and curtains to mimic the desperation of the depression, adding horse blankets and harnesses to create unique one of a kind coats and jackets, and weaving western landscapes paired with delicate embroidery and charms from my grandmothers and mother to give each piece a special meaning. i feel so honored to have been able to create this collection, it truly is something i poured my entire self into and i am very proud and excited to share it.
